The Sisterhood has taught me how to strengthen my confidence, develop my leadership skills, and express creativity in many different ways. It is an honor to be apart of an organization that recognizes strong women in music and serves the bands with pride and joy.

Tau Beta Sigma has helped me find my voice and grow as a leader. Since becoming a Sister, I have grown into the person I always dreamed of being. Within this organization, I have made friendships and memories that I will cherish for life.

My time in Alpha Omega has been very special to me. I have grown so much in so many different ways over the past year. My sisters are some of the best and most supportive people I know, and they have shaped my college experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does TBS do?

We provide exceptional service to collegiate bands and promote equality and diversity, including empowering women in the band profession. We cultivate leadership, educational achievement, music appreciation and community development.

2. Who is involved in TBS?

Anyone can get involved with TBS! Our sisterhood is filled with a multitude of majors, interests, and sisters who are heavily involved on campus and in our community. You do not have to be a music major to get involved!

3. What are some activities TBS is involved with?

We provide service to Florida State’s College of Music, Seminole Sound, and the Marching Chiefs, as well as serve in our community philanthropically.

To strengthen our passion for our pillar of music, as a sisterhood, we must participate in an ensemble every semester. During each Fall and Spring, sisters perform in our Joint Recital with Kappa Kappa Psi as well as in our Women in Music concert.

Every Sunday, our sisterhood meets and reconnects from the past week during our General Body Meetings. Throughout the semester, we do activities such as Sisterhood Week, Sister Retreat, and Unity Week with our brothers, in which we celebrate our love in the bond.

4. Do you need to take an ensemble?

Yes! To be considered an active sister or candidate, you must be registered in an ensemble every semester.

5. Am I committed to going through the candidate process if I come out to recruitment?

No, not at all! Recruitment is designed so you can get a feel for the sisterhood and brotherhood and see if we are the right fit for you! Going through recruitment does not mean you are committing to embarking on candidacy, but if you are considering candidacy, you must attend our Formal and Informal recruitment events. All other events during the week are highly encouraged, but not required.
